MR TAN, comfort cab was left a wrecked after MediaCorp artiste Quan Yifeng had a bad day before taking off to Mauritius for a spot of shooting. The cab driver had the photo and witness to prove it.
However motormouth Quan, who had an altercation in public a few years back claims she slammed his car door on her and swore , also with photo to prove it. And also took the cab keys along with her trip to Mauritius, as a requirement for her shooting.
The local daily evening news reported members of the public witnessed the taxi driver in altercation with Quan Yifeng, totally unscripted and adhoc. Quan was accompanied by her daughter and a male in his 30s.The man took his cab and ask to HuaXin Condonminium round the corner, and then onward to the airport. Mediacorp Artist Quan, hopped on board with her big bags and her daughter. The taxi driver did not help her baggage to be on the boot, and it is said that Quan then went ballastic and when the taxi took the corner, Quan went round the bend too. Swearing at him in hokkien, shoving and hitting him and the interiors of the cab. It was after reaching the airport then he alleged she kicked his groin, just like in the movie, the car door, then locked herself inside and consider ten ways to trash a cab. The Great Flood 2010,Great Singapore Sales follows

The great Singapore Flood 2010 of June 19th put the news on the water resources of Singapore. All the drains and rivers finally connects to the Marina Basin Floodgate, it shows the fragile connection between conserving water and controlling it. All resources leading to control the flow have not been successful so far, witness the numerous flash flood that hit Singapore once in every blue moon or as late as last November say the PUB Chief Khoo Teng Chye. When the water was rising in ultra rich Bukit Timah district, the flood gate was lifted. There lives the rich and lorded and connected, who head of department could seen be assailed in the next morning , when the flood in here reaches their doorstep. But Stamford Canal, the unknow x factor and more merchant like than connected the place of Business and where the Streets to be seen when in Singapore.
Very soon the business hub of Singapore, where the B in Business come from, it was raining cats and dogs, and not a tourists in sight. It was a flood of the wrong type, not the card carrying or Gucci carrying type but the more liquid type. The whole street was cover with an overly generous cups of Cappuccino and all the Lattes, from the basement of Starbuck to the top of the stairs. All swirling and coloured froths, representing the signatures of the Coffee culture. Just pure plain flood water , overflowing from the drains and channels fast and furious, showing who is King, nature or the builders of Orchard Road . The Great Flood wins ,hand down.
There were more water seen flowing in the streets of Orchard Road, than the whole year in one hour. The flood was equivalent to 60 Olympics size pools, and not that Singapore should be complaining. Singapore needed that much to convert to water for its inhabitant. But the timing was off . The root cause of it all was the debris, leaves and flotsome that flows under the road of Orchard Road. There were actually two canals that runs the length of the road, one major and one minor. The interlink under the middle of the road with the grills and bars to stop the debris was ineffective. It stops the leaves and the water when the grill traps became solid as a wall instead of as porus as a sieve. Thus the ferocity and speeds and the masses of flood water back up back towards the drains and back where it all came and connected from the road and containments. When the liquid masses congregates, it took a life of its own and seeks every bits and spaces it can go to ,including branded and shops and all. Stocks and all were soaked to the brims and millions dollars of goods were evacuated to higher ground or damage. A few high ended goods, like shoes were seen going for a walk.
The Pub chief, ultimately the CEO of the whole drains and canals leading to the Marina Bay Reservoir trotted out figures and to do for the new few years. The hard ware include inspections, litter traps and maintenace schedules to be updated and enforced.
It includes $2 billions will be poured ito the drain. $150 to improve the drainage so that the flows will not be interrupted on its way to the Marina Bay Reservoir. More workers will be employed by the PUB. Not the Pub where one goes for the watering hole, but lowly paid workers, moving around to ensure no debris hung around there. The debris will be disperse to prevent congregations. The design of the debris traps were supposed to be self cleaning, but in lull days, the dirts hardly a forces to stop the flow of water. However, when the number and masses of dirts and debris reaches a critical levels, it strikes back, much like the Empire strike back. Then the real problems will become more apparents until it became a force to be reckon with.
The workers will be mainly overseeing the Lucky Plaza ,where the traders of the basement had a little bit of luck. The building had a back door where the flood water can leave as fast as they come it, thus preventing a built up. In Liat Tower, there were no such measure. There were no back doors for the water to escape. It flooded the Branded goods to the top of the stairs.
At the end of the Great Flood of 2010, the next items will the the continuing of the Great Singapore Sales. New stocks will arrive, not to worry the buyers.

City of safe to fail or fail safe ?

Singapore,s security and safety was damaged by a few incidents this year. Firstly the escape of Mas Selamat , the deemed terrorist, local born and bred, who wanted to slash and burn the City of Sin. Then last week, seven foreign workers armed with foreign insensibilities and knives went on a slash and robbery spree through the heartland of Singapore. They targeted mainly lonely foreign workers etching a living until finally they attacked a local lads who happens to be on their way. The foreigners who were mindless and less knowledges ,with names like headhunters origin , were quickly apprehended by 100 officers, who were instantly deployed. The next was the graffiti on the MRT, which was so good it fooled even the staff. Nevertheless, all the culprits was swiftly apprehended, much like the mounties get their man, Singapore style. It hurt the locals pride and heart, of crime free Singapore, with cleanliness from ground up to the head and beyond. So much so that when travelling overseas, some got on the wrong side by doing the right thing, which in local context, meant breaking the rule. Any rules or regulations that is strongly or strictly enforced in Singapore is quickly thrown out of the window ,once the person leaves the ICA post in Singapore,on land or sea. First to go, throw the litters out of the window, including the do-not of Singapore after the checkpoint of Singapore. The rules of laws does not apply well or even worked well, even when the Passports pledges the safety to the holders.

Railway Station move to the Borders took 20 years.

The moment the Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib and Singapore Lee emerged from the retreat at Sentosa Club, it was all Go on the KTMB case It was was locked up and almost forgotten and unresolved and held in the loft for 20 years. It was like a case of an orphan child born prewar, when Singapore was in the Federation of Malaysia, and on acrimonious divorce, the child KTMB got left out of the family house, and stayed with Singapore, claimed by Malaysia. The wrangling goes on and on, meanwhile the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station, locally named become neglected, both in development and relevant. It became a past in the future. The railway tracks that cut across the top half of Singapore, slowed developments and skewed housing designs along its path. Condominiums and private houses have to insulate the sound of the train by having tall trees and bushes cover its presence. It stopped all roads, building and livestyle along its track. It also took away a few live due to its infrequent presence, many a young couple sitting on the railtrack to contemplate the rising sunrise got hit and body parts fly. Simply it became an entity that doe not go away or a pain on the local bureaucrats. Whatever decent pieces of land that can accomodate vehicles became a Parking Place, due to the shortage and expensive charges in Singapore. It short, it is out of reach of the law of Singapore. It was even reported to be an illegal party place.
The negotiation to claim possession and relocations of it took a bit of Premiers too. It went through 3 Ex Premiers on Malaysia side, and two from Singapore side when the baggage have finally been opened. A lot of dusts was brushed off in its 20years hiatus. Finally in a piece of commerce and trading, money seems to tip the tables, after all its railway sits on prime land worth billions or affects valuable property.
It involves in the end, trading the lands that straddle Singapore, a swarth of prime real estate land, snaking and passing through residential estates, costly houses and throbbing commercial buildings on its way to Johore.
Now that will all change, so startling and strange, it almost knock the winds out of Singaporean and Malaysian . The dinosaur aged old railway train which belongs to Railway Malayan have not changed much since the 50s. Its operating system have baffled and mystified, much like version 1.Many will not see the conundrum, of jet age existing with the slow age.
Political wills have prevailed over past differences, with water, land ,airspace thrown into the works to bridge the differences. And all have failed before.
The bridge was too far, even building the 2nd link bridge which landed into Johore and onwards to Kuala Lumpur. The big gap still exist where the twain will never meet, until now, that it.
It is called the Gulf of Singapore and Malaysia. Witness Pedra Blanca, or white rock. Called by other name , it went to court and got solve.
Round one to Singapore and parts of it that jut out at low tide, belongs to whoever owns the zone says the World Court. It might have continued into the future have it not been solve today. Almost as momentous as the founding of Singapore, the origin of Malayan Railway ran through many twists and turns, before heading into the Station that is called Tanjang Pagar.
Many a tourists, travellers and local passed thru the austure gate without realising the historical significant of it all. Many history and historical fable have cast their spell on those who travelled on it, the Great Asian Railway journey ending in Singapore. As of today, no rail track was planned to link to the Indonesian Island of Bintan or Batam. As Singapore stands at the Land,s End of the railway journey.
The founding farther, Dr Goh also passed away last week, he was the GA in Singohpore. Probably his modesty ,humanity and humility stopped him from having the credits of having made Singapore into what it is today.
And back to the KTM land deal, Singapore was once part of Malaysia in the 50s. The KTM was then chugging away, many a tourists and people alike to northen park of Malaya, through Johore, the frontier town.
I remembered , on my NS leave, I took a $50 into my backpack and hitch a ride, bus or train to Penang and back again in two weeks or bust.It opened my eyes and change my characters on how Society works. I have met crooks , drug seller and kind driver who allow me to jump into their vehicle on my way to Penang.
Meanwhile the impasse on the status of KTM Berhad (KTMB) land , that presently cut across half of Singapore was never settled then, With ex Premier, who was insulted when he studied as an intern in the past in Singapore, to the Minister whose late father was banned from Singapore for having a role in the Maria Hertogh,s riots in Singapore, all the angst will float to the surface , clouding the heads of the negotiating table. However Datuk Seri Najib, the son of the founding of Malaysia and the son of the Present PM of Singapore both were youngs when the turbulence of the birth of Singapore and Malaysia were set in the 50s. Datuk Seri Najib must have spent happy time in Singapore, or sat through the KTMB that was the mode of transport in the 50s.
In the cattle class, it was noise ear shattering noise of the 1000 horses locomotive engines. Presumably, he was in the end of the train which should be a comfortable decibels and poshed. Anyway time have moved and the water under the bridge have moved and meanders forward and KTMB was left in a stark time warp, not there , but here, and ever heard of having your passport stamped or not stamped with Malaysian chop in Singapore ?Two countries one system ? One could almost commit a crime in Silly Singapore and seek asylum in KTMB station, much like the porous borders of Canada, when the stateline could be drawn in the grass. So many have flees US by being arrested on Canadian borders which voids the arrest.
Now back to the KTMB. Malaysia will move its railway station at Tanjung Pagar to Woodlands, the norhtern most part of Singapore. The clincher would be the three parcels of KTMB land - at Tanjung Pagar, Kranji and Woodlands here - would be jointly owned, developed or traded by an M-S company owned 40 by Singapore and the rest by the other party . Most expect the land to be in the Marina Bay , where the reclaimed land will starts in the Billions. For curiosity sake, the sand that is the building or parcels of land that stood was source from other than Malaysia. It might be helpfull if the flowers that grace the building be be soiled with sands from Malaysia , to show the ironies of it all. It was banned from importing the sand from Malaysia for the construction industry especially building the shoreline or enlarging the shoreline of Singapore. Most like Singapore to be cute, and small, not bigger, so the easier to handle with. That is the reasons the land cost in the billions.Importing sand from faraway land is an expensive affairs, grain by grains.
Now on the nitty gritty, both PM agreed on the enhanced features, much like the buttons on the internets,on the agreement POA signed in 1990. At that time, the enhanced features was nowhere to be seen, especially with the feisty Ex Premier.
Elaborating on the deal, both side would meet again in one month,s time in Malaysia,
which is the hot month of June. Many hailed the agreements as win-win. The baggage was left two long in the storeroom, and on opening would be a treasure trove of historical wonders. On the other hand it would enhance the travel of both countries with the establishment of rail and subway link in Johore and Singapore, bypassing the current causeway which is a cause for concerns and more. The back in time immigration facilities smacks of time warp, the new alongside the old, the piles still in the water of the infrastructure of the crooked causeway. The breaking of the water pipeline would also make most Singapore thirty, but they might as well sipped Champagne in the absence of water. The statement said by Najib, was worthy to quote "we see light at the end of the tunnel.".and "We are both smiling," .Further PM Najib standing beside Lee said it was an occasion to rejoice. It is about time, the glass was gathering cobwebs after 20 years in the same post. The ice buckets need to be refilled though, the holder needs to be polish to show the shine. Finally the people of Singapore and Malaysia will get to rejoice and join in the relocation of the current CIQ centre in which people of both side had to face in the daily grind transmuting in the hot afternoon sun. Colocation meant that one CIQ in one go instead of two.
The statement said KTMB will shift to Woodlands by July 1 2011. In a concession

Malaysia's customs, immigration and quarantine facilities will also be located there, a strange but mixed sovereign agreement to facilitate the users. Presumably, lawbreakers will be under Malaysian and Singapore system of law.

The joint company known as M-S Pte Ltd set up by Dec 31,with the smallest in in the history of the Company Registrar with Khazanah Nasional Berhad and Singapore's Temasek Holdings. It will hold six parcels of land totalling 271ha one of the biggest landlord next to the listed company in Singapore. The historic land parcels are in Tanjung Pagar, Kranji and Woodlands, currently a bunch of old buildings, illegally storage space and leanto, untouched by Singapore,s law. It is expected all activities will be legalised and much converted by land developers here in Singapore.

The PMS also envisage the rapid transit system (RTS) between Tanjung Puteri in Johor Baru and Singapore to take over the current descript and non fucntioning CIG. The RTS would be fully developed and integrated with public transport services by 2018,where the like of MagnetLev would be widely available.

Greek Tragedy for all the world to see

A great tragedy was unfolding in Athen. A civil servant, on retirement got at shock and into crisis retirement after the Greek goverment cut pensions to fit the cloth to the clothing. After two many generous suits that fits two generously, the Greeks are left with only a loincloth after the budget was cut and trim to stop runaway deficit. After living in Cookoo land for a long time, no Greek government dared to cut the budget. Paying taxes and hoarding seem to be a Greek pastime, in the end , the deficit busted the system and the Government was effectively broke. At 12 percent over the limits, it affected the Euros so much that the government have to borrow to cover the deficit from other Euros members, mainly Germany. By not paying the deficit, it will bust the Euros arrangement, which is unthinkable. It is all for one now Greece later Spain, Portugal, and the rest. And there goes the Euros. Getting real has never been a strong point of the Greek. Besides trying to conquer the world in the past, they have never conquered their own minds or their social behavior like paying taxes. It has been reported, many a good Doctors have millions in their accounts. A minister just resigned to hide any further inquiries into her tax account of her spouse. Many are facing tomorrow, like there is no tomorrow. The will have to pay for those who help themselves illegally. Reforming the tax sector would like opening the cupboard, it just contain too many skeletons, and too many Greeks. Whatever happens to a good day,s wages for a good day,s work. One cannot conquer the world in this time and age, it is not kosher. Many complain of the reforms as unjust but then reform or bust as they say. So says the other founding members of the European Union. Pulling out seems to be a better options nowaday, it may break all the rules or the bank got broke. Not impossible I think, more probable. the reforms being pushed through by the government were simply "unjust."

The reform in question reduce their piggy bank pension by seven percent less in 2030 and chop off 14 percent categories. It was due to be voted in Parliament, either way it is very tricky. Meanwhile the militant students and youth took to the street and rioted. They attacked and set fire to a bank. The tragedy causes 4 personnel to be trapped in the fire that happens . More riots and demonstrations are expected to follow. The vote on the reforms follows a cut on the yearly 2 bonus payments for doing nothing. Which at the end, breaks all working men rules in other country, something for nothing. Such unworkable plan, would saddle the budget with payout which cannot be fulfilled in the long term, it is only good for a goverment or two, in the end it will be broke. The unlucky Goverment would have to do the unthinkable but logic and practical does not mixed ,it only clouds the other. Austerity drive will drive many to hardship, the swords might have to be wielded now, time for a little practice, it should be easly, look here, a cut here. Or bust as the saying goes. For the Greek, it is a tragedy, the world is watching on a stage for all to see. Othewise there might not be a pension at all to distribute, because the kitty is empty. Call the IMF, the EEC for help. Yes but with conditions attached says the Eurozone peers. It is doubted the Peers would like to chip in for their bad behaviours in the budget indiscipline, helping Greek would hurt their own standing in their reelection.

As expected the trade unions stepped up protests and actions against the reform, but the venting out will cause damage to the buildings and streets and not change much of the Government,s plan. The money trail leads to the bank, so it is expected that damage to be to attack, the outward sign of the reform. It is called a social revolt by some but living on less Euro will be a reality of the Greek. Being popular and trying to govern is easy but at the end, the bank is broke, the kitty bank is empty and bad habit like easy credits and big spending will not add up to a healthy numbers. It is affecting the bars, cafe with the clients going down by 20 or less. No point hanging out where there is no one to pay the tab.

New youngest PM rules Brittania, Clegg is deputy

New government on Tuesday, among five Lib Dem cabinet ministers in a coalition led by Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron.

"Her Majesty The Queen has been pleased to approve the appointment of Nick Clegg as deputy prime minister," a spokesman for the prime minister's Downing Street office said.

"It has been agreed that five cabinet posts will be filled by Liberal Democrats, including the appointment of Nick Clegg," he added.

Clegg hailed a "new kind of government" after his party's lawmakers overwhelmingly approved Britain's first coalition government since World War II.

"We are going to form a new kind of government," Clegg said, after the deal with the larger Conservative party was given the green light.

"I hope this is the start of the new politics I have always believed in," said Clegg.

Conservative finance spokesman George Osborne will be Chancellor of the Exchequer in the new government and ex-party leader William Hague will be foreign secretary, the party confirmed on Tuesday.

Osborne, 38, a close friend of Cameron, has dealt with finance issues for his party since 2005 and will take charge of steering Britain's recovery from recession.

He is bright and politically savvy although he has spent his entire career in politics and some in the financial sector have expressed concerns about his relative inexperience.

Hague, who led the Conservatives between 1997 and 2001, was appointed his party's foreign affairs spokesman in 2005 and will be named foreign secretary in the new Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition government.

Famously eurosceptic, the 49-year-old has toned down his rhetoric in the post and says he believes Britain can work together with the European Union. - AFP/de

3 D coming for Playboy sees dept and form in front of you

WASHINGTON : Playboy readers are going to need glasses for a close look at the upcoming issue of the magazine - 3D glasses.

The centrefold picture in the June edition of Playboy will be in 3D, Playboy spokeswoman Theresa Hennessey said Tuesday.

"It's definitely eye-popping," Hennessey said of the 3D centrefold featuring 2010 Playmate of the Year Hope Dworacyzk.

"There's a wine glass that she's holding and when you stand back with the glasses on that comes right out at you," the spokeswoman told AFP. "You really feel like you're, so to speak, in the pictorial with her."

A pair of 3D glasses like those that helped the film "Avatar" shatter box office records will be included with the issue of the magazine which hits US newsstands on Friday.

Playboy's first 3D centrefold comes about six months after the magazine ran a photo spread featuring a cartoon character - a scantily clad Marge Simpson from the hit television show "The Simpsons."

"We're constantly trying to do new creative, innovative things to engage our readers," Hennessey said. "But I don't think we'll be having 3D centrefolds in every issue."

Playboy founder Hugh Hefner said he "wanted to create a 3D pictorial for the very first issue of Playboy, but didn't have enough money to include the 3D glasses.

"I think Playboy fans will enjoy seeing our Playmate of the Year's true form," Hefner added in a statement.

Euro in trouble, Europe on tightrope, will fall soon?

The story so far from the news.
HONG KONG - Worries over the eurozone's debt problems despite a one-trillion-dollar rescue deal sent gold to a record high Wednesday while the euro slid as investors looked for safer assets.

As euphoria that initially greeted the massive EU-IMF support scheme for debt-ridden eurozone nations faded, demand for the precious metal soared to 1,235.50 dollars an ounce by midday in Hong Kong before settling at 1,233.00.

It jumped to 1,239.00 in early London trade.

Heightened concerns about the risk of contagion from Greece's debt woes have attracted fresh inflows of cash into gold while investors continue to move out of the ailing euro, which remained depressed in Tokyo trade Wednesday.

"Investors now see that the magnitude of the eurozone debt problems is much bigger than they had initially thought," Hideaki Inoue, senior foreign-exchange dealer at Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking, told Dow Jones Newswires.

"There are still just no reasons for anyone to aggressively buy the euro."

The single currency edged up slightly to 1.2730 dollars, from 1.2644 dollars in New York Tuesday.

The debt crisis began as Greece teetered toward default, triggering fears that other weak economies such as Portugal, Spain and Italy might follow.

While major governments have expressed optimism the 750 billion euros (one trillion dollars) set aside by the European Union and International Monetary Fund would prevent a new crisis enveloping the global economy, questions over its implementation remain.

A warning from Moody's Investors Service that it may downgrade Portugal and lower debt-laden Greece's rating to junk status also stoked bearish sentiment, after a similar move by Standard & Poor's saw borrowing costs spike for Athens.

Investors have switched focus to how the massive bailout will be carried out and the implications for future financial governance in the eurozone, amid doubts about whether debt-ridden members can reduce their deficits.

Mizuho Corporate Bank market economist Daisuke Karakama also questioned an earlier 110-billion-euro rescue deal for Greece that would pass its debt on to the EU -- mostly to Germany and France.

"Where have the debts gone? Passing debts around is not good for the future of Europe," he said.
Thus the economist said.
