Mainland Singapore and Pulau Ubin, the training island of Singapore has been home to the Greater Mouse Deer, and the Lesser Mouse Deer. The Island has been whipped into a frenzy by these two locals, the other in Suburbia Upper Thomson Road near Peirce reservoir. It was spotted by the local park users and residents. The NParks , the local authorities said that the sightings could be result of the reintroduction of the Mouse Deers 8 at the Central catchments in 1998. The surveys was done by students on their thesis, which based on the textbook, both were extinct due to hunting by the locals . On the Island of Pulau Ubin a five minutes drive from Singapore, there were more than 100 sightings, and it was thought to be dogs, or escaped pets, as the mousedeers are known to swim. Another said that the profilation of the deers on the island proves the regeneration and stability of the rain forest.
